Don’t Forget™ | The Moving Checklist That Helps You Get Things Done
Print your moving checklist, save your progress online, get reminders, and take care of selected tasks right inside the checklist.
A free moving checklist you can print, use online, and come back to whenever you need it.
You know that moment when you remember you need to transfer the internet, call the movers, update your address, and find the box with the coffee maker?
That's when a moving checklist comes in handy. The trouble is, a list can tell you what to do and still leave you wondering where to start, what you've already handled, and how you're supposed to get the rest done.
That's why we created Don't Forget™, AddressGenie's free moving checklist. You can print it, use it online, save your progress, get reminders, and even take care of selected tasks right inside the checklist.
Think of it as a little help for the long list between “We're moving!” and “We're home.”
Start with a plan for your move
Every move comes with its own collection of details. You may be booking movers, getting a new apartment ready, changing schools, or wondering who needs your new address. Some things need attention weeks ahead; others can wait until you're unpacked.
Don't Forget™ brings those tasks together in one place. Browse the checklist by timeline or category, then focus on the things that matter for your move. You don't have to do every task, and you certainly don't have to do them all today.
Start with the essentials: your moving arrangements, utilities, packing, and address changes. Then come back to the rest as you have time.

A moving checklist that remembers where you left off
A printed checklist is useful—until it ends up in a box labeled “miscellaneous.”
With Don't Forget™, your online checklist saves your progress. Check off a few tasks, get on with your day, and sign in later to see what's done and what still needs attention. You can return from your phone, tablet, or computer.
Prefer paper? There's a printable option, too. Use whichever works for you—or use both. The point is to give your moving plans a home before you have to find a home for everything else.
Reminders when you need them
Moving comes with plenty of things to remember. Your checklist doesn't have to be one more.
You can choose optional reminders timed to your move date. They'll help bring upcoming tasks back to your attention, whether it's time to think about utilities or make sure important organizations know where to find you.
You remain in charge of your move. We're here to help keep the little things from getting lost along the way.
See “Do It Now”? You can take action right there
Some moving tasks are simple to name and surprisingly time-consuming to finish. “Notify the IRS,” for example, sounds straightforward—until you have to find the right form.
That's where Do It Now comes in. Selected tasks have built-in tools to help you take the next step from within your checklist. Depending on the task, you can:
Prepare IRS Form 8822 to download, print, sign, and mail.
Look up utility providers and keep track of the old and new sides of your move.
Explore internet options shown for your new address.
Send moving announcements to friends and family with Heads Up™.
Each task works a little differently. Some help you prepare what you need; others guide you through the next step. Either way, there's less hunting around for a starting point.
Don't forget the address changes
Mail forwarding is an important step, but it isn't the whole address-change job. Your bank, insurer, employer, healthcare providers, and other organizations may still need your new address. Your checklist helps you keep track of who to notify.
If you'd like help with that part, AddressGenie also offers a separate paid change-of-address service that helps you file with USPS and notify selected organizations from a directory of more than 6,000. Some updates may require additional action. You can use the free checklist whether or not you choose the paid service.
What if moving day is coming up fast?
Start where you are. If you have two weeks—or two days—you don't need to recreate an eight-week plan.
First, make sure you know how your belongings are getting to your new home. Then check the essentials: access to both homes, utilities and internet, medications and important documents, and a bag with what you'll need on your first night. Use the checklist to keep track of the other items as you go.
And if you're already in your new place? It's not too late. There are still addresses to update, services to check, and plenty of little things that are easier to handle when they're written down.
One less thing to keep in your head
Your move is going to be busy enough. Let your checklist hold onto the details, remind you what's coming, and help you get a few things done along the way.
Don't Forget™ is free, and no credit card is required. Create your account, start with the tasks that matter to you, and come back whenever you're ready.
